Terms and Conditions

The following terms and conditions represent the basis upon which driving lessons and courses are offered to you.

·      On the first lesson, the pupil’s eyesight and driving licence will be checked by the driving instructor. If there is any issue and the lesson cannot continue, payment for that lesson will still be due.

·      Pupils should arrive for lessons in a fit and well state to drive. If for any reason, the driving instructor suspects the pupil is under the influence of drink or drugs, or is in anyway unfit to drive, the lesson will be cancelled and the full payment for that lesson will be due to the driving instructor.

·      Pupils must always wear any relevant prescribed glasses or contact lenses for lessons.

·      For comfort and safety, pupils should wear suitable clothing and footwear to driving lessons, which do not restrict or impede movement.

·      Pupils are advised to be punctual for lesson times. The driving instructor will abandon the lesson if the pupil does not arrive after fifteen minutes of the agreed time has elapsed. Payment for that lesson will still be due.

·      If a pupil arrives late for a lesson, the said lesson will still finish on time. The time lost at the beginning due to the pupil’s lateness, will not be made up.

·      Pupils must inform the driving instructor of any prescribed medications they are taking, which may affect their driving ability.

·      Payments for lessons should be made on or before the day of the lesson. Payment can be made via cash, cheque, or bank transfer prior to the lesson. Cheques are not accepted on the day of the practical driving test.

·      If a pupil cancels a lesson, they must give at least 48 hours’ notice. Failure to do this will result in payment for the lesson being due.

·      Pupils are responsible for booking their own theory and practical driving tests and are responsible for checking the details of the test on their DVSA confirmation letter.

·      Before booking a practical driving test, the pupil must check to see if their driving instructor is available.

·      The pupil must inform the driving instructor of the test date, time and location when it is booked. Failure to do so may result in the instructors car being unavailable for the test.

·      The pupil must bring all their required documents to the driving test. If a pupil fails to bring the necessary documents to their driving test, leading to the test being cancelled, payment for the driving instructors time will still be due.

·      If a practical driving test is aborted due to an issue with eyesight or documents, payment for the driving instructors time will still be due.

·      If the pupil’s practical driving test is cancelled by the DVSA giving the pupil insufficient time to provide the instructor with the required cancellation notice of 48 hours, then payment for the instructor’s time will still be due. You may be able to claim compensation for this fee from the DVSA.

·      The instructor reserves the right to withdraw their car from use for the practical driving test, without notice, should the pupil prove not to be of test standard. The instructor will not be responsible for any fees which are lost as a result.

·      The driving instructor will carry the appropriate motor insurance to provide comprehensive cover should the pupil be involved in a collision as a learner driver whilst driving the driving instructor’s car with the instructor. However, whilst on test, the pupil is deemed liable and responsible in the event of any incident or accident, to pay for any damages or any insurance excess incurred.

·      On the day of the pupil’s practical driving test, the driving instructor, unless previously advised otherwise, may use the pupil’s test pass photo on social media platforms and driving school website.

·      The driving instructor reserves the right to increase their fees at any time.

·      If a pre-paid block booking is cancelled by the pupil, the block booking fee will be reimbursed, minus the fee for one lesson.

·      The driving instructor has the right to terminate the pupil’s tuition if they feel the pupil’s conduct or commitment falls below the standard the instructor reasonably expects.

·      The driving instructor reserves the right to cancel a lesson at short notice or finish a lesson early in the event of adverse weather conditions for the safety of all concerned.

·      In the event of a complaint, the driving instructor will make every effort to resolve the problem directly. Please advise the instructor of any issues as early as possible to allow for a satisfactory solution to be found.

·      Your statutory rights: These terms and conditions will not affect your statutory rights relating to faulty or incorrectly described goods or services provided. If you have any doubts about your statutory rights please contact your local Trading Standards Department or Citizens Advice Bureau.
